Strategic Group Decisions are

Most strategic group decisions are known by their context specific term - strategy, policy, alliance charter...

GDM-D is the active ingredient in all

Many practitioner communities have created proprietary approaches to group decision design. They are not the part that gives a methodology its distinct utility but determines the quality of the output.
Optimal-GDM provides a research-based best in class GDM-Design plug in for group-dependent improvement methodologies.

GDM-D as a professional discipline

A profession is a discipline in which one is trained in a lexicon of terms, concepts, and methods. This has not existed before for GDM-Design.

First end-to-end applied research

We have studied several hundred real-time group decision design activities across a diverse variety of groups, topics, and contexts.

FAQ

Is Constuctive GDM "bad"?

From a decision process excellence perspective, traditional group decision design approaches are weak, fragile processes.

Why can smart groups not create optimal designs?

Because the quality leaks are structural, not behavioral. Inaccurate concepts. Flawed methods. Missing frames. The best people, data, knowledge, and wisdom cannot overcome the methodology weaknesses.

Why does it create false confidence?

Lacking methods to meaure their design's strength, groups must use input quality and meeting success to assess output quality.

Does a 'standard' Constructive GDM process exist?

No. The closest are consulting firm methodologies that use their choice of concepts, frames, and methods for the GDM-Design aspects of a service focused on a particular topic, such as strategy revision, policy development, project chartering. At the 'as-conducted' level, every group decision design process is unique.

Why have the best firms used Constructive GDM approaches if they are so weak?

Due to decision-making's focus on choice selection and the decision design blindspot, there has been no research and evidence-based decision design process to utilize.

Can Constructive GDM be "fixed"?

Partially. The use of each Optimal GDM concept, frame, or method can close a Constructive GDM quality leak. Using them all advances group designs from 'their best' to 'better' but not to 'best possible.'

What happens if we keep using Constructive GDM?

Each time a group designs goals and actions to advance a topic using traditional approaches, they move a design with unknown inaccuracy and incompleteness into implementation.
